Night nurse

Hi, FTM here. I’m going to hire a night nurse and wondering if anyone has used one before and can give some insight! How many nights a week did you use, or wish you could’ve used them for? How many weeks/months did you use or wish you could’ve had them for etc. The service I’m looking at does 8hr shifts so I’m thinking 11-7 is ideal?

I was not trusting enough of a stranger to care for my newborn, so  we opted out of that type of service.

Is it something you are locked into a contract for...or could you wait to see how things go and then decide?

same as the below mama said, I wasn’t trusting of anything like that. I mean good for you if you are lol because believe me you need all the rest you can get. Thankfully my daughter was a good sleeper and still is and she will be 2. Having my second in November and another nurse would be a god sent lol

Oh trust me I’m hesitant but all the moms around me are telling me to do it. I feel “comfortable” only because I’ve had other mom friends that have used this service. They will bring baby to you in bed for feedings and then change and soothe them back to sleep. Am I being naive? Should I try it out myself at first? I haven’t signed a contract yet!

@mdj11,

I don't think you are naive. You just haven't had the chance to experience that bond yet with your baby after birth. You are what your baby wants and needs. Your smell, your touch, your voice, your skin, your heart beat sounds and rhythym. Contact with you is what your little one has known for 40 weeks inside you, and they will not get that same comfort from a stranger.

If you can hire one at any time maybe see how you and baby and your husband do, and if you truly feel you need the support then give a night nurse a try.
