FAITH IN ACTION AWARD MODERATORS WANTED

The Faith in Action Award has been part of our archdiocese for 7 years now. It is a chance for young people to be rewarded for the good work that they do in their local school and parish communities.

At the end of each year, they have to create a Final Piece that showcases what actions they have done throughout the year and what they have learned.

This year we have over 2,000 young people registered for the award. We are looking for people who might be able to spare an hour or two to look at the Final Pieces these young people have created and write a few words of affirmation for them as feedback, on behalf of the archdiocese.

Moderation takes place between 23 May - 14 June. If you have a free couple of hours in that time it would be great to have you help as a Moderator this year. No specific experience is necessary. We will have a meeting for Moderators on the 23 May at 5pm for anyone who might like to come to meet other Moderators and have any queries answered. If you would like to know more or would like to volunteer please email or call 01744 740463 / 740461.

CAN YOU HELP CHRISTOPHER GRANGE ?

Do you have a few hours to spare every week or every couple of weeks?

The RVS (Royal Voluntary Service formerly WRVS) are recruiting people to help in the coffee bar and shop at Christopher Grange Care Home, Youens Way, L14. All that is involved is making cups of tea or coffee and selling toiletries, sweets, biscuits etc to visitors and residents. Many of the current volunteers have been doing this for over 20 years and will continue to do so, but it is now time for us to get some extra helpers to fill in for holidays or sickness so that it can be kept open every day. Many of you will know how valuable the coffee bar and shop are for visitors and residents alike.

If you would like more information or would like to pay a visit to see exactly what it is all about, please contact Anne Halligan on 07790 148177

MOVEMENT FOR HEALING

(Every other Tuesday at Irenaeus 1:15 - 2pm)

(A recommendation from a participant

After being discharged by the hospital having had twelve months of physiotherapy, I was advised to continue exercising. Liz at Irenaeus, an experienced practitioner in the area of Movement for Healing, offers a relaxing and whole body exercise. From head to toe, slow body exercise accompanied by music, enables agility creating relaxation and calming of the body and mind. This form of exercise is also suitable for people who are wheelchair users, taking people at their own pace, according to needs.

Why not give it a try? You will not be disappointed.
