Laura Hirschtritt OBITUARY

Laura S. Hirschtritt, 66, of Mill Creek Township, died at home on December 11, 2015 in the loving company of her husband and son. Born in Oceanside, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alfred E. Sinclair and Jean A. Marko.

She was the wife of 43 years to Steven Hirschtritt.

Laura graduated with a B.F.A. from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY, in 1971.

She then worked as a technical artist for American Polarizers in Reading, until becoming a prototype/sample illustrator for Talbot Knitting Mill in Reading. Later she became the art editor and publisher of the “Penn Ag Journal” for Penn Ag Industries Assoc. in Ephrata, while also helping her husband operate Mtn. Hollow Farm in Robesonia. She ended her working days as an assistant special education teacher with the Ephrata School District.

Laura was also an accomplished ballet and interpretive dancer in her younger years, instructing ballet at Linda’s School of Dance in Robesonia. She also performed in the Reading area, including performances at the former Rajah Temple theatre.

Laura enjoyed building wooden dollhouses and miniature furniture, gardening, cooking, sewing, and attending sports car races and hill climbs with her husband and friends. She was a champion of animal rights and welfare, belonging to and supporting numerous organizations.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Ian and his wife, Krystal, of Reading; two grandchildren, Tara and Paige; her step-mother, Cynthia Roylance, Clifton Park, NY; a half-sister, Jane Walden, Orlando, FL; a half-brother, Douglas Sinclair, Mt. Vernon, NY; and her canine companion, Chuck, at home.

Funeral Services are private.
