Smaller Scale?
I want to play with 15mm minis and scale everything down. Can I just use cm inplace of inches, so 5 inches becomes 5cm and be done wth it?
Not bought the book yet, just seeing if I can do this before going in.
Probably! Can't speak for RoSD specifically, but I've played a few games of Five Parsecs From Home in 15mm using cm, and it's worked fairly swimmingly. Halving the inches would also give you a broadly similar scale
I think that would work fine. I haven't tried it, but even at the beginning of the book it mentions that you can change the scale or make other adjustments, and as long as it's broadly similar to the written rules it's fine. I play on a big 1.5 inch hex grid mat, and just substitute the hexes for inches, and it works just fine.
If you are resourceful enough to have 15mm minis and terrain, then you can easily make new sticks and rulers too with ROSD units.
The boards are so small, I never need my tape measure for setup or shooting, etc. If this is important to you, then adopting cm makes sense.
Yes. That will work fine.
Check out this YouTube channel (The Joy of Wargaming) for a 15mm scale campaign. It works really well!
