Xander Schauffele broke a major championship scoring record in winning the 2024 PGA Championship at 21 under par. But he was far from alone when it came to going low at Valhalla.

In fact, the field's cumulative score in relation to par broke a PGA Championship record as well. And it wasn't even close.

Thanks to stats guru Justin Ray for sharing this mind-blowing tally:

Pretty crazy, huh? That's a LOT of red.

To put it in further perspective, Bryson DeChambeau became the first person to ever shoot 20 under in a major and lose. Heck, he couldn't even get into a playoff at that number.

Only four of the 78 players who made the cut finished over par. And the Friday cut line itself was one under, a record-low number.

Yeah, yeah, the "par is a construct" people will have their say, but the bottom line is that we just witnessed the all-time birdiefest at a major.
