Britain’s Got Talent star Tom Ball has embarked on a health journey since reaching the finals of the ITV show two years ago.

Singer Tom, 26, came in third place in the 2022 series, which stand-up comedian Axel Blake ultimately won.

The former secondary school teacher competed on America’s Got Talent the following year but was eliminated before the finals.

Since his appearances on Simon Cowell’s shows, Tom has overhauled his diet and fitness regime in a bid to improve his health and has revealed his new look on Instagram.

Tom said he started regularly working out at the gym and eating healthier to help with his type 1 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the pancreas, an organ which produces insulin to regulate blood glucose, stops working.

Speaking about his transformation, Tom said: ‘It was purely I want to feel better. I want to be able to stand on stage and not get tired. I wanna be able to sing better.

‘I just want to be healthier and subsequently, you know, you end up looking a little bit better, and I had a haircut. It was a really nice moment.’

Detailing the changes he had made to his lifestyle, he told The Mirror: ‘I’m back on diet, watching what I’m eating, how much I’m eating and make sure I’m eating the right stuff and going back to the gym.

‘I’m in the gym four times a week at the moment with a PT trying to just ensure that I’m back into full health for the year that we’ve got ahead, which is a really exciting year.’

On Britain’s Got Talent, Tom was compared to legendary winner Susan Boyle due to his powerhouse voice.

Speaking previously to Metro.co.uk, he said he was ‘privileged’ to be mentioned in the same sentence as Susan.

He said: ‘I keep saying privileged, but to be compared to someone as fantastic as Susan Boyle has been amazing, she’s gone on to phenomenal things.’

‘She’s a powerhouse,’ Tom continued.

‘So even comparing me a little bit to her, I would take that as a massive compliment.’

Tom is still working in the music industry having signed to British record label Westway Music, known as the home of West End and Broadway musical stars.

Last year, he was a special guest on The Overtones’ 27-date UK tour before embarking on his own.

Tom has recently finished his UK tour, Curtain Cull, which saw him perform in cities including London, Leeds and Peterborough.

The tour is named after his debut album and will be released on May 24.

Britain’s Got Talent is available to stream on ITVX.
