Teddi Mellencamp-Arroyave opened up about her relationship with her father, John Mellencamp, during an interview on the Sibling Revelry podcast with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson. She shared that their journey to a better place was quite long and complicated. Teddi admitted that when she was growing up, her relationship with her father was troubled.
However, she acknowledged that her father always tried his best.
Reflecting on their current relationship, she mentioned that they are in a much better place now than when she was a child. Teddi also revealed that she didn't fully understand the importance of having a good relationship with her parents back then. The divorce of her parents played a role in the strain between them.
Instead of visiting her father in Indiana every other weekend, she would choose to stay home and spend time with her friends, which she now realizes may have hurt her father's feelings. Teddi even shared a conversation where her father said some hurtful things, leading to a couple of years of not talking.
The Bravolebrity went on to share that she was glad that she had an outlet to pour her energy into instead of focusing on the drama at home. "Essentially, if I didn't have a sport or something that I really cared about growing up, I think I probably would have been slightly more f---ed up," she said.
