Mr. A. F. Poston, better known as “Terry” passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Graceville Health Center in Graceville, Florida. Services for Terry will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024, graveside, at Beulah Thomas Church Cemetery, 456 Woodhull Road, Bainbridge, Georgia. Mr. Poston will be buried beside his wife, Hilda Dodson Poston, who passed away in 2009.
Athel Fitzgerald “Terry” Poston was born January 30, 1932, in Pamlico, South Carolina. He was a gifted insurance salesman and employee of American General Life Insurance Company. Papa Bear was loved by all. Terry loved his grandson Andrew, probably more than anyone. His two great-grandsons brought special joy to his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His wife kept him grounded, but after her death, he moved 12 times in 10 years. He just loved to move. He had a business card that announced him as “Wheeler Dealer”. Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always knew the price of crickets and shotgun shells. He frequently compared the cost to the price of milk and bread. Terry adored his family, and they adored him. He will be sorely missed.
Mr. A. F. Poston is survived by his son, David Poston (Trish) of Midland City, Alabama; grandson, Andrew Poston (Margaret) of Dothan, Alabama; great-grandsons, Henry and Whittaker; and dear friend and caregiver, Margie Chancellor. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Poston, and brother, Edward Poston.
