Marcus Rashford makes landmark 400th first-team appearance for Man Utd | Manchester United

Rashford hits 400: Marcus's milestone

Wednesday 15 May 2024 21:40

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has hit an impressive milestone, reaching 400 senior appearances for the club and joining an exclusive band of former Reds, with his substitute outing against Newcastle United.

Our no.10 rose through the Academy ranks at Carrington before breaking onto the senior scene back in February 2016, in a Europa League tie against Midtjylland. That he would go on to become a significant character for United was clear from the off, scoring twice in his debut at just 18 years old, and overtaking George Best as our youngest-ever European scorer.

He rapidly became a first-team regular following that incredible start, hitting his 100th appearance in late 2017 in a 2-2 draw against Leicester City in the Premier League, when he replaced Anthony Martial from the bench.

Rashford marked his 200th outing in the same devastating fashion he approached his first, netting a brace against Norwich City in a league game that the Reds won 4-0.

His last major milestone, the 300th time he appeared for the club, also coincidentally came against the Canaries, but this time from the bench when he replaced Alex Telles in a 3-2 win that also featured a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.

The England international is only the 28th player in United's history to achieve this feat, with the last player to do so being David De Gea, in July 2020's 2-2 with Southampton.

In the overall appearance ranks, Rashford should soon overtake Scotsmen Lou Macari (401), with Denis Law (404) and Steve Bruce (414) next in his sights.

It's an elite group of some of the biggest names to ever grace the Old Trafford turf, but the number of Academy graduates to reach that number is even more exclusive still.

The Reds forward will be the first to rise from the Carrington ranks and reach 400 games in nearly 20 years. See the full list below:

After making his 400th outing, Rashford has scored 131 goals, provided a further 64 assists, and continues to be an asset on the pitch on a weekly basis for the Reds.

Having already booked his place in the history books, the 26-year-old will now have his sights set and finishing the season strongly, with the Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City coming up on 25 May.

Congratulations Marcus!
