I'm in the same boat as those who hope that Monique and Xavier aren't long-term because I think the cast is on the verge of looking a bit bloated. Not necessarily at the levels of other soaps but I think we can slow down on the new arrivals for now.

Micah Balfour is good but I'll give Junior some time to settle in. I don't think it did him many favours to bring him in at the tail end of the tedious boxing story, especially with the cringeworthy entrance scene.
I feel like it might be Monique is not long term but then dies or leaves alive but without Xavier who stays. Or if she leaves with Xavier she then dies or he returns alone soon after.

Do we know for sure if Junior himself is even joining full time?

It like doesn't even make sense. Your maid of honour is still your mate. If it was like 'you're not my mate... you're my sister' it would still be shit, but would at least make sense.
I think it was a clumsy attempt to do the Simon Cowell “I didn’t like it, I loved it” shtick. But it didn’t translate well.
I feel like we've had a similar moment not too long ago but I can't for the life of me remember the context, or it might have just been a line delivered far more ominously than it needed to be.
"She wouldn't like you (😱)...she would love you." (😌)

Or something to that effect, from George's birth mother's pal.

And the actress delivered it with so much venom 😂😂😂

That was it! Just such a bizarre writing and directing choice - it's EastEnders, not The X Factor.

The Whitney storyline is so grating, can we speed it up??
I agree. Just try fast-forwarding it like I do!

I don’t really mind the Whitney storyline anymore since it’s giving us lots of screen time for Whitney and Bianca who I love.

Post13:52 - 11 days ago#68

I didn’t really care for Junior, but I did enjoy his interaction with Cindy, I think them having an affair would be so much more interesting than her and George.
But it does make me question why we’ve had so many scenes of Cindy just following George around, if the affair won’t even be with him.

Post13:53 - 11 days ago#69

I really hope Junior’s family are temporary, the cast is big enough, and I think the Knights are big enough as well.

Post13:53 - 11 days ago#70

I really dislike Denzel, but I still really like Amy as a character despite the sometimes subpar acting.

Post13:56 - 11 days ago#71

Don’t really get why Whitney is so annoyed with Bianca. You literally stole a person, it’s quite a bit worse.

Post13:59 - 11 days ago#72

I’m really enjoying getting to see Penny and Amy bond. It’s about time Penny got something more to do as well, because I think she’s a great character with tons of potential.

Reiss made me really laugh today actually.

With respect, I don't think it could be sped up any more at this point. She's getting married, giving birth, finding out her fella has cheated, and moving away all in the space of two weeks.
EXACTLY. That's how boring it is, I need it over with yesterday

Yeah not sure what to think about Junior having a family and why are they introducing another kid in an age range they clearly don't give a toss about. Arthur and Louie are completely invisible so what do we need Xavier for? Use the kids you've got.

Intrigued by Junior. He's clearly come to fill the void left by Max Branning, and I wonder if he will end up having an affair with Lauren. Given that she's already had a one-night stand with Zack (thereby betraying Whitney), and her disgust at her father has been brought up, Lauren falling for an older man and becoming the "Stacey" of the situation would perhaps be interesting.

Opening an episode with this many men shouting.....a choice, and a triggering one at that.

Post15:32 - 11 days ago#78

"You wouldn't have let them go thieving"

Whitney re-writing history. They were forever knicking stuff.

Post15:37 - 11 days ago#79

I love how Whitney's moaning about not having enough time when no one forced her to plan a wedding with 2 weeks notice whilst 11 months pregnant.

Post15:38 - 11 days ago#80

Junior seems fine but I already feel like he's going to be another character swallowed up by the charisma-less George Knight black hole.

Post15:42 - 11 days ago#81

I really feel like we're at the start of a Nugget story here. He's a fascinating little character on the quiet. I hope the second half of the year is much busier for the Gulati's than the first.

You know how I know Roxanne and Veronica aren't actually dead? Denzel isn't being seriously haunted over his treatment of Amy.

The way I can clearly imagine Ar Roxanne tearing a couple of hundred strips off of Denzel on hearing about how he treated her daughter. Peak Rita Simons bellowing.

Coupled with Veronica's icy death glare and then a quick call to the crusher

Ellie Dadd seems to divide opinion here but put me in the ranks of those who still really rate her. I think she's consistently great,

Post15:56 - 11 days ago#88

IDK why but I just thought of how Bianca is literally related to everyone in this episode. She's cousin to both Bobby and Peter Beale but also Lauren and also Amy. It's mad.

I think Nugget is going to potentially become the focus of the steriods storyline via his connection to Denzel, I think the lack of his parents or wider family has in part been deliberate but not entirely.

I have to say, the hyper-masculinity of the boxing match juxtaposed with the campery of Cindy, Elaine, Gina & Anna looking on through the window was quite entertaining.
