If you look at the Netflix top 10 movies list right now, there are a lot of action movies, animated kids movies, with a couple other titles sprinkled in. These aren't really the best picks for a Mother's Day weekend movie night, but the movie at the peak of the list is the perfect choice. Netflix's new romantic comedy Mother of the Bride is the best movie to watch with mom.

Beyond the latest Netflix original rom-com, the streamer also recently added a throwback romantic comedy that's never gone out of style. The top picks of the weekend also include a new Turkish romantic drama series that shares a title with an Ariana Grande hit as well as a nostalgia TV sitcom that's the optimal background for Mother's Day brunch.

Let's get the list of weekend recommendations started with Mother of the Bride.

Mother of the Bride

Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove play mother and daughter in the romantic comedy, but they're not quite the Gilmore girls. When Lana (Shields) learns that Emma (Cosgrove) has planned a wedding to a man she hasn't met, her shock is superseded by the discovery that her soon-to-be son-in-law is the son of the college ex who split her heart in two. Aside from the various heartthrobs (Benjamin Bratt! Sean Teale! Chad Michael Murray!!!) in the movie, it's also a very sweet exploration of mother-daughter relationships and how the bonds change with time and age.

The Wedding Planner

We're one week away from Jennifer Lopez's newest Netflix original movie, the science fiction-action flick Atlas, dropping on May 24, but it's never a bad idea to dip back into the J.Lo rom-com archives. The Wedding Planner returned to Netflix on May 1 and reminded us all that, yes, actually, Jennifer Lopez is one of the romantic comedy queens. In the film, Lopez plays a wedding planner who's planning the wedding of a man (Matthew McConaughey) she's fallen head over heels in love with. Do they end up together?! Obviously, but it's worth watching even if you can recite it line by line.

Thank You, Next

In her smash-hit single "thank u, next," Ariana Grande sings, "I'm so f--king grateful for my ex." But you'll have to see if that's true for Leyla in the new Turkish Netflix romantic drama series Thank You, Next. The series centers on a lawyer whose most recent breakup was brutal, but she returns to the dating world in all its confusing chaos. Thank You, Next contains eight episodes that span 37-51 minutes in length and is rated TV-14, so it's safe to watch with your mom, your friends, or just with yourself if you're having a weekend of rotting in bed. No judgments!

Reba

If you're both looking for something to put on in the background for Mother's Day brunch that everyone can agree on but also a solid show to rewatch, look no further than Reba. Honestly, it's tough to find someone, especially a millennial, who doesn't have a deep love for this sitcom. From childhood to afternoons on ABC Family when we got home from school, it's always been there for us. It's now back again on Netflix and deservedly enjoying another round of love. Reba's a real celebration of motherhood in various forms, and there's no better show to binge with your maternal figure on Mother's Day.
