An 84-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a stabbing in East Boston on Friday.
Boston police said officers responded around 3 p.m. on Friday to the report of a person stabbed near Brandywyne Drive. When the officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from what appeared to be a life-threatening stab wound to her neck.
Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital where it was later determined her injuries were not life-threatening.
An 84-year-old man, whose name has not been released by authorities, was arrested in connection with the stabbing and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife); assault and battery on a person over 60/disabled person with injury; armed assault in a dwelling; and assault to murder.
According to The Boston Globe, the woman told police that the man, who also lived in the area of Brandywyne Drive, came up behind her as she was going into her home, grabbing her and stabbing her in the neck.
Police said the man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and will be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
