Students from Trinity Christian High School spent time on Wednesday delivering birthday kits to the Monterey County food bank.
Trinity Christian held a fundraiser from April 15 through April 23 to collect monetary donations. They were able to collect enough supplies for 50 birthday kits.
During their "FLEX Wednesday" timeframe on April 24, they organized and assembled the kits.
Each one included a boxed cake mix, a 12-ounce can of soda, a disposable baking tray, a can of frosting, and a pack of birthday candles and balloons.
The students dropped off the kits for kids at the Monterey County Food Bank on the morning of May 8 and volunteered until 12:30 p.m.
"A community is strong when a community always works together, within itself. So I really, really hope that, if anything, these students take from this, that, it doesn't end at school, that they need to carry it forward wherever life takes them to continuously, serve their community," said Hannah Britain, a staff member at Trinity Christian.
Trinity Christian started their FLEX Wednesday Program in 2021, where every other Wednesday, students and staff spend three hours participating in community service.
Since its inception, they have helped numerous schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations.
