The Carolina Hurricanes might be close to the return of a major piece as Brett Pesce was back at Canes practice Wednesdsy morning, practicing in a normal jersey.

Pesce, 29, has been out for approximately three weeks since leaving Game 2 against the New York Islanders with a lower-body injury.

It seemed to be a non-contact, ankle sprain he suffered in the middle of the second period, but nothing other than it being a lower-body injury was revealed by the team.

In Pesce's place, Tony DeAngelo has filled in and has, for the most part, done a pretty good at it alongside Brady Skjei.

He has two points in eight games, averaging 16:54 per game.

While he's been good, a healthy Pesce is certainly still an upgrade.

At practice, Pesce was skating as an extra with Dylan Coghlan, but with still another day before Game 6, things may change.

It's a wait and see game now with Pesce but if he can play, that'll be huge for Carolina.
