My theory on Springfields location

Discussion

I’ll preface this with the fact that we all know the location is never given on the show, if there is a location at all. But I believe if it is based in an actual US state, I think it’s Maine. I have a few reasons for this. First is the climate and scenery seems to match Maines. They have snow in the winter, leaves change colors and fall during the Fall, and sunny weather during spring and summer. They have forests and mountains which would also rule out some other places. Second reason is their accents. They don’t have any noticeable accent like a southern or Boston accent. I don’t put too much weight into the accent argument, but just throwing it out there. One of the biggest reasons I believe it’s Maine is from the Weekend at Burnsies episode about medical cannabis. That episode was released in 2002, and Maine had medical cannabis at the time. Not many other states offered it in the late 90s. Just curious what other people’s thoughts and theories are on this. Is there anything I’m missing, that would go against my theory? Just a fun discussion

I think it's Springfield Oregon. That's where the creator is from. All the characters are named after streets there.

Wow I didn’t know about the street names. Good piece of trivia right there. Thanks
