“Right I’m going for a WEE”
Why did Kat emphasise that?
Also Thomas Law can’t even walk convincingly. He was dragging his legs in that scene with Penny like a poor man’s attempt at the Max Branning shoe shuffle.

I'd much prefer Kat and Alfie to stay friends. These scenes are a hoot though.
Kitty Castledine is an absolute stunner. The camera loves her.

Honestly it feels like the George show right now.Shaz1022 wrote: ↑6:29 - May 15Would have been nice to see more of Chelsea and Martin or Kat and Alfie. There are other characters on the show apart from George.

Oh..... My...... God.
Cindy's..... outfit.
I'm actually considering turning bi for Michelle Collins.

Jamie Fowler's little heart is gonna burst at that Bobby and Jay moment. I know this because mine did as well.
Bobby is absolutely adorable. His exit was easier to swallow when he wasn't having any screentime but now he's back telling adorable jokes in adorable costumes asking adorably stupid questions and now my heart has broken all over again.

Jack and Callum being cops and robbers is hilarious - are they even friends like that?
Priyonce is fabulous! Lovely to see Ravi again too!
Glad to see Stacey at Whitney's hen do. I thought she was wearing her Six dress for a second but I think it might just be a similar one.
I get a little bit wet every time Ravi says "lad".

Arghhhh I think they should have just had Lauren come clean and then that triggers Whitney going into labour out of shock.
Cindy's outfit looks like she's off to present the BAFTAs or Strictly, not attend a stag/hen do in an East London pubVinegarLips wrote: ↑9:33 - May 15Oh..... My...... God.

Cindy looks amazing but why are she and Ian even there? Has she ever said 2 words to Zack or Whitney?

Maybe let's not have Jaden do too many shouting scenes. He isn't any good at it. What I do think is really working here with Denzel, Amy and Nugget is that it's very clear that ultimately all 3 of them are just acting out of insecurity so while they are all going about things in the wrong way you also feel sorry for all of them which isn't necessarily an easy thing to do.
Is there anything more tiring than a homewrecker calling a cheater a scumbag or vice versa? They're both scumbags and need to own their own actions. You don't get to absolve blame from yourself by making it out like the other person is the bad one. They may be bad and have been willing to cheat on their partner or seduce you to cheat on yours but they ultimately didn't make you drop your pants. The second you do that you lose any right to say anything. Unless someone cheated on someone with you and you genuinely didn't know they were taken that is.
Junior is absolutely shameless. A married man trying it on with two women in as many days in broad daylight where anyone could see. Now there's a scumbag.
Well I've always believed Whitney is the dumbest character on the show and she continues to prove it. What else does she think might make Lauren act this way? Zack's not good enough for you. I can't say. Looks incredibly shifty. Come on now man. What else could this possibly mean.
Poor Tommy is there anything more cringe at that age than watching your parents flirt.

I agree with everything you’ve said about George and the Knights. I realise how I feel about him is how many people felt about Mick during the Carter-domination years. I just can’t get behind the family. There is no chemistry among the actors (which interestingly many people had predicted would be the case based on their very first promo pictures). Anna is a terrible character played by an actress who seems to be catering towards a CBeebies audience with her choices. Gina is a better character but I just don’t feel like she has the integrity to be truly interesting. Francesca Henry is a decent actress though. George doesn’t work for me at all. I can watch Colin Salman act and know he’s doing an objectively good job but I feel absolutely nothing as a viewer. The relationship with Elaine is a joke. There is negative chemistry between Colin and Harriet. There is at least *something* between Colin and Michelle that half convinces me that George and Cindy/Rose had a history but I can’t be bothered with an affair or anything like that. I don’t care enough about any of the characters involved to justify going down that old road again.NevermindMe wrote: ↑7:42 - May 15Colin Salmon is a great actor. George as landlord of The Vic should and will feature heavily. The character should have a family built around them, because that’s the role of the family of The Vic. The stories on paper are strong - exploring his heritage, his adoptive parents harbouring a secret, his estranged son coming back on the scene, him still feeling connected to his ex wife. These are all valid stories and they fit seamlessly.
But the delivery of them is off. The Knight family are just not hooking me. I’m sad about that because they’re an expansion of Cindy, who is great (albeit needing a story of her own). Something just isn’t clicking. I’m not seeing the spark in any of them - George, Gina, Anna or Junior. It’s all quite lifeless.
With the Whitney strand also being so dull and boring, and Denzel and Amy’s woes interesting me about as much as dust under a coffee table, I have lost interest in the stories right now.
I want Stacey, Martin, Billy, Honey, Kat, Alfie, Kathy, Cindy, Ian, Sharon, Suki, Eve, Jack, Denise, SeriousKim, Felix, Bernie, Jean, Harvey, Ravi, Chelsea - bring back the characters that have that ‘spring in their step’ when holding a scene.
The Knights exist as a unit to tie the past to the present. I just think that if you’re going to have a family that stretches all the way from Cindy Beale to Elaine Peacock they need to be able to stand alone as a successful unit if they have any chance of achieving the extra responsibilities of tying two hugely contrasting central families and worlds together in an extremely coincidental bow. Not one of the three central Knights come anywhere near close enough for me. I was shocked when I learned that Crenshaw and his team had been dreaming up the Knights for a whole year before they debuted.

I couldn't tell either. Maybe they need to bring back the cup. [hides]Dalton wrote: ↑10:56 - May 15I actually can’t tell if Linda’s drunk or not.
It would’ve been more than 20 years, Alfie. How long ago was 2003/late 2002?
Peter’s sarong-wrapper is giving, I can’t lie. Thomas Law’s acting has gotten more hapless and weak as far as Peter’s concerned but it’s little things like this that make you root for him.

It’s weird, because I like all the Knights as individuals.
Elaine is my favourite, and I love the way she’s been characterised as this performer who puts on a show and never talks about her deeper feelings. I just wish they would delve into *why* she is so desperate to keep George, and why she finds it difficult to be vulnerable with people close to her. Otherwise, she just comes off as heartless.
George is a solid leading man played by a talented actor, but I think he’s been overexposed. They should have given us a break from George after Gloria died. I also think they’ve probably changed direction on the George/Cindy affair which has left George’s character especially a little muddled.
Gina is probably the most promising young female introduction in years, but they haven’t let her come out of George’s shadow yet. I think she needs a big, messy love story with a bad boy that goes horribly wrong to delve into her issues with men and give her the spotlight for a bit.
Anna is probably the weakest of the Knights, but I also think they haven’t given Molly Rainford the opportunity to do much with her. Maybe that will improve on Freddie’s return.
Together though… I think it is a bit messy. I’m kinda interested in George/Elaine as a doomed relationship, and I think their dramatic break up at their wedding will be a solid episode. I think Gina and Anna also have quite a believable relationship as sisters, but that bond has not really been explored much outside the one episode they discussed colourism. I think focussing the family on George has made it feel a bit unbalanced, and if other characters were given focus it would enable George to play a more supporting role and help build up that sense of family.

I never thought I’d be the one saying this but Ravi and Zack have more chemistry than Zack and Whitney.

"I just want what's best for Whitney"
"You should've thought about that before you started RIDING her fella!"
A-ma-zing. The way she shoved Lauren as well!

Is Linda's bloodstream just 99% alcohol now.
Bianca getting a fright from Zack accidentally bursting the balloon made me cackle.
At least Shirley could still function when her bloodstream was mostly vodka, Linda can barely walk in a straight lineTellyAddict wrote: ↑12:35 - May 15Is Linda's bloodstream just 99% alcohol now.

Billy is getting to interact with everyone this week!
Not Bianca and Lauren shouting at the top of their voices right in front of the Vic.

Just an observation. The family have spent the last few weeks rallying around George because he was slowly killing himself through engaging in dangerous behaviour. Yet Linda is doing the exact same thing and no one gives a shit.

That scene with Denzel shouting at Amy was...not good. Yikes.
"No one round here is a saint!"
I think Our Trace would have a few words to say about that, having put up with everyone and their neverending drama for nearly forty years.

Not Bianca calling Lauren a coward when she can't tell Whitney the truth either!
