Draymond Green Reveals Celtics' Fatal Flaw Amid Championship Bid
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green knows exactly what the Boston Celtics' problem is amid their home struggles in the playoffs.
Returning to the NBA on TNT show on Monday, Green discussed the Celtics' home record with Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and the rest of the crew. Boston has a 15-15 record at home since 2021, which is definitely a concerning trend for a team with championship aspirations.
According to Green, he believes the Celtics "tend to relax" at home since they have been so good over the last few years that they think it will eventually get resolved. Sure enough, it hasn't really happened, and that habit has ended up affecting them in the postseason.
The Warriors forward also noted that leadership is a major issue for the Celtics, saying: "Who's the leader that's going to step up and say, 'Hey, man, this is garbage.' … Steph Curry went on the road and beat them in Boston. It’s costing [them] championships now.”
So far in their series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jayson Tatum and the Celtics lost one game at home. They also dropped one in the first round against the Miami Heat.
Sure enough, hopes are high that the Celtics have changed. But until they win the championship and prove to Draymond Green and everyone else that their home struggles in the playoffs is a thing of the past, the concerns will continue.
