NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a shocking display of contempt for the younger generation, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton landed herself in hot water after claiming that student protesters were unaware of the complexities of Middle East history.

Her controversial remarks, made during an appearance on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' on Thursday, May 9, ignited a firestorm of criticism across social media platforms, as reported by Mediaite.

During the interview, Hillary did not mince words as she lambasted the nationwide student protests against US support for Israel amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

"They don't know very much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly about history, in many areas of the world, including in our own country," she declared, suggesting that young people were ignorant of global history.

The former first lady further stated that if the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat had accepted a deal proposed by her husband, former President Bill Clinton, the Palestinians would have secured an independent state.

"It's one of the great tragedies of history that he was unable to say yes," Hillary lamented.

Moreover, Hillary implied that student protesters might have been influenced by what she termed "propaganda" on social media or in their classrooms, alleging that they were not receiving information in a balanced manner.

"Anybody who is teaching in a university, or anyone who is putting content on social media, should be held responsible for what they include and what they exclude," she expressed.

Clinton further warned against the dangers of misinformation, asserting, "Propaganda, whether on TikTok or in the classroom, is the exact antithesis of education."

She also urged professors to step up their efforts in helping the younger generation develop better skills in filtering and evaluating information regarding global events.

Internet slams Hillary Clinton over her recent comments about younger generations

Clinton's remarks swiftly sparked a firestorm of criticism on social media, with users lambasting her.

One X user stated, "Hillary Clinton is now as she has ever been ignorant, arrogant, unsuited for public life, and a complete embarrassment to herself and anyone who has not always derided her."

Another user commented, "Democrats unleashing their secret weapon: Let's roll out our most condescending, unlikeable failure to repeat a bunch of ahistorical lies and call young people stupid."

A third user wrote, "Wow. Her ability to make so many inaccurate and misleading statements in such a short period of time is breathtaking."

Another user countered Clinton's assertions, stating, "First of all, you’re wrong. Many young people have a much more accurate view of the Middle East than you do. Second of all, it doesn’t take a phd in Middle East history to oppose babies being starved and bombed by the thousands. It just takes some basic humanity. Something you clearly lack."

Further criticism ensued, with one user remarking, "Hillary continues to erode the Dem base more and more daily." Another user mentioned, "Apparently destroying Libya gave her a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern studies."

A seventh user criticized Clinton's consistent condescension, stating, "The most consistent thing about Hillary Clinton is her ability to stay condescending. So unnecessary." Lastly, a user expressed, "This woman is one of the greatest disappointments of modern history."
