Scots carers fighting to get back thousands in unpaid wages have lashed out at their former employers accusing them of 'disgusting' treatment of workers.Staff at Lothian Healthcare services in Balerno were devastated after the private homecare company stopped trading in January.
Eleven out-of-pocket workers claim they are still owed around £20,000 in wages and holiday pay after the company stopped trading with less than 24 hours notice with debts of around £50,000.Staff received an email in January from boss Peter Moore telling them that the lifeline home support services to pensioners across Edinburgh and West Lothian would stop 'due to multiple complex factors'.
But since then it's claimed he's 'gone AWOL' leaving unpaid workers struggling to make ends meet. Fiona Nelson, from Boness, has been plunged into debt after borrowing £2000 to cover bills and food.
The 53-year-old said workers were left 'desperate' over Christmas after not getting paid.She was forced to raise the alarm with Edinburgh' council's social care service in December.Fiona said: "We were in crisis and didn't have enough money for fuel to get to people's homes.
