Symphonic metal bands where the guitars are equal parts of the orchestra

Oftentimes in symphonic metal you can really listen to the orchestra in the intro or in the bridge, but during common verse and chorus structures it is drowned out a bit. My question is if there are any bands, where the guitars and the bass (and the Vocals?) are treated more like equal parts of the orchestra instead of being basically the main character. If so, please recommend them to me

Septicflesh

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm usually not the biggest fan of death metal, but this band seems to fit my description in their newer albums

They probably aren't what you're looking for stylistically, but this is sort of Fleshgod Apocalypse's whole thing.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the band, but what comes to mind is Blind Guardian’s orchestral album, which had a tiny amount of acoustic or electric guitars within the orchestra that rarely distinguished itself at all. But that might be a step further than you’re thinking?

I actually already know that album and like it a lot, but as far as I know there are no electric guitars at all on it

There are definitely at least a little, just never in a lead role. Like power chords here or there, no more prominent than any other orchestral instrument.

Are we both talking about Legacy of the Dark Lands? Because I looked it up and the only member of Blind Guardian you can hear on it is Hansi

Skalmold and the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. Just one record, not the whole repertoire is Symphonic, they call their stuff Viking Metal. It's more the other way round: The orchestra is equal to the guitars and drum...

But boy...

I love it when there are live concerts with an actual orchestra. Thanks for the suggestion

I was actually going to post a similar post soon.

They are power metal but they have more orchestral instruments than I would have thought

Band: Twilight Force: Album: Heroes of the Mighty Force, At the heart of Wintervale

I do like power metal and I think with Twilight Force the Symphonic parts are there, but most of the time they only double the guitar lines and you also basically only hear strings

maybe give wintersun a try, for example:

I love wintersun, I think the orchestration is great, but the goals is rather to have this big epic wall of sound with lots of instruments, instead of a more classical(?) approach.

huh...so you want more of an "in-your-face" type of sound. I'll have to think about it, but the first band that comes to mind is lost in grey, try these ones:

It's not exactly what I was looking for, but this band sounds great and I'll definitely have a deeper look into their discography

Wishmasters. Their album Afterworld is exactly what you're looking for. The guitars play pretty simple riffs for the most part, but they work well because the main focus seems to be the big bombastic orchestra.
