Expect warm, humid weather with chance of afternoon rain showers — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, May 14, said warm and humid weather will persist across most of the country, with a "higher" chance of afternoon rain showers or thunderstorms throughout the archipelago.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said the easterlies or warm air from the Pacific Ocean remains the dominant weather system that could bring warm and humid conditions.

The country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, she said.

PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the frontal system—a weather system in which warm and cold air merge—may bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms to Batanes and Cagayan.

PAGASA also warned those in areas affected by the frontal system to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Torres also noted that PAGASA has not observed a low pressure area or tropical cyclone within or outside the country’s area of responsibility as of Tuesday.
