Currently playing in 27 markets, the movie has grossed $49 million worldwide as per Deadline, covering major of its entire production budget. The $49 million benchmark is the final grossing after the movie amassed another $10.3 million this weekend. The movie premiered in certain international markets on May 1, though it is set to release next weekend in the domestic market.

As the movie reportedly has a production budget of $60 million, it has successfully managed to bring back more than 80% of its production budgetThis is quite a big feat as the movie is yet to open in international markets including Saudi Arabia, the UK, Indonesia, Australia, Poland, France, and Japan.

These markets could easily contribute to its box-office earnings but the movie would still need a boost from the US market to make an overall impact. It is still ahead of Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy which is gravely struggling despite its earlier release.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s The Fall Guy was expected to be another summer hit but things don’t look promising. Debuted less than three weeks ago, the action-comedy banger is yet to recover its production cost which is reportedly $130 million as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Kicking off with a little over $27m in its first weekend, it grossed $8.5 million domestically in its third weekend with over $7 million more added more from international markets. According to Collider, Gosling’s new project amassed $62 million at the US box office and another $64 million from overseas markets, making its global earnings $127 million.

With how it’s running, the movie is expected to end its theatrical run under $200 million globally. Given its reported production budget, the movie would need at least $260 million at the worldwide box office to be considered a success.

However, the hope is getting bleak as the movie is already struggling at the box office as it gears up for its digital release, which is expected to be later this month.

Loosely based on the classic 1980s TV series of the same name, The Fall Guy revolves around an ex-stuntman (Gosling) who comes out of his retirement to work on his ex-girlfriend’s (Blunt) directorial debut film. However, he finds himself involved in a conspiracy surrounding the star of the production (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

While The Fall Guy is running in theatres, The Garfield Movie will release on May 24 in the US.
