Stop speculating on Ulu Tiram attack, says Ahmad Maslan

JOHOR BARU: Stop speculating about the Ulu Tiram police station attack as it could affect investment and the tourism industry, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The Deputy Works Minister added that Johor is one of the country's highest investment destinations and an important gateway for tourists.

“It is a shocking incident, but at the same time, there is no need for us to conclude on our own. Do not create any speculation that could scare away future investment and tourists from coming into our country.

“If the police say it has nothing to do with Jemaah Islamiah (JI), then this is what we need to believe.

“I also believed in the wisdom of our enforcement agencies in conducting investigations on the matter, so we leave it to them,” he said.

He said this when met after the Digital Construction Competency Skill Centre at Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) Southern Region, here, on Sunday (May 19).

Ahmad, who is also a member of the Umno supreme council, said all party members were advised to be mindful when making a statement on the matter.

“Speculation will only make things worse, so I urged all Umno members to avoid being involved in this; we want people, especially investors and tourists, to come into our state,” he said.

On Friday (May 17), two policemen were killed and one injured after a man attacked a police station in Ulu Tiram.
