A motorcycle enthusiast and mum has been left distraught after her prized bike was brazenly stolen in the middle of the night.

Maddie Bell, 47, had left her silver Suzuki SV1000 locked up at her Bowthorpe home while at a music gig last Saturday.

Upon returning home to Howlett Drive later that night, she discovered it was gone.

"I work as a community support worker with adults with learning difficulties and I use the bike for social pleasure," Maddie said.

"Myself and my partner are both into motorcycling and meet up with various groups around the country and abroad, it's our passion."

Soon after discovering her motorcycle missing, Maddie posted an appeal on Facebook and urged her neighbours to keep an eye out for her "beloved" bike.

She got CCTV footage from nearby streets showing a person in white or light grey clothing carefully wheeling the bike along Rawley Road towards Clover Hill Road at around 1.45am.

It is thought they had parked a car on the adjoining road at 1.11am before stealing the bike and returning to the car at 2.10am.

Police have confirmed an investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing.

Maddie added: "It's a very quiet area where we live and I thought my bike was secure enough being locked up on the driveway, especially as my partner usually stays up late watching TV.
