And So It Goes
A Take on the May Challenge
Previously on the Inside, Now Looking at
Things a Bit Differently . . .
The recent news about NAR has caused much talk in the blogosphere on this and similar forums. Articles, reports and opinions aplenty in the everyday world can inform as well as confuse us. Besides the weather, isn't this industry cause for cocktail party-like chatter? Constantly and consistently. Get in line. This buffet line is getting crowded.
However, I admit it doesn’t take up a lot of space in my brain. Sure, I left much of realty life behind me a few years ago but my sense of things going on can extend beyond the immediate. Mind you, I am not ignoring the present. However, perspective is a companion even when I may not be on the friendliest terms with it.
Oh, the complexity about the simplicity of it all! I have seen this show before. Like change or evolution, what's happening now isn't new. Not exactly. Not in real estate. Nor in other parts of everyday life. Although familiar; the shifts, players involved, and plot twists can make keeping up with the “news” challenging.
Fast and Furious is not just the familiar theme of an action movie series but how information seems to be delivered to us. In multiple ways, it's too much and too soon. Announcements are repeated and rehashed. Over and over again. Am I sounding like a broken record?
I digress. Yes, that’s a hypothetical question above with a bit of hyperbole thrown in to reflect my cynical side. Some may say, snarky - that’s okay - call it what you want.
And like perception, definitions and many sorts of things combine in our world wherever "we live" right now. In this industry. And in numerous parts of our life in the past. Likely in the future. And far after leaving this planet (or even this career or platform).
We each do what works best for us. In the moment. Maybe a bit longer too. What we do (or did) in our early years in real estate captures(d) some of it. Differentiation but not too dissimilar. Unique but wearing the required uniformity at times as absolutely required. Yes, it's simply complicated.
A closer analysis might show signs of what was on the horizon. If only we could predict what was coming next. Yeah, what if.
Afterall, it’s a journey. Mixed up. Separated. Combined. Tossed about. Rinse. Repeat. Try again.
Although sports analogies are not my forte, it’s a marathon in countless ways, right? I'm talking about life. As for real estate, we shall see how it goes.
This is my not-so-typical submission-of-sorts for the AR May Challenge hosted by Kathy Streib and Debe Maxwell, CRS.
And because it's my interpretation of this challenge, I am including this quote because it fits for me.
In three words,
I can sum up everything I've learned about life:
It goes on.
