ENCORE MELAKA, in collaboration with WYC Dance Studio and Arts Centre, is seeking talented performing artists to join their vibrant team.
After a four-year hiatus triggered by the pandemic, ENCORE MELAKA, Southeast Asia’s architectural marvel with the region’s first 360-degree rotating auditorium, is gearing up for a new season of world-class theatrical productions. This iconic venue, first opened in July 2018, is renowned for hosting the overseas stage performance of China’s Impression Series, a highly acclaimed production by renowned directors Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue, and Wang Chaoge.
ENCORE MELAKA’s 2,000-seat theatre has featured over 200 artists performing against a backdrop of mesmerizing water scenes and immersive projection mapping. Now, with tourists returning and Melaka being a popular cultural destination, ENCORE MELAKA is seeking new local talent to join their vibrant productions.
Encore Melaka Seeks Fresh Talent for New Season After Pandemic Hiatus
“After successfully navigating the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, we are filled with immense pride to take center stage once again,” said Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon, ENCORE MELAKA’s founder. “We are excited to welcome a fresh wave of local talent to join us in creating vibrant new productions.”
In collaboration with WYC Dance Studio and Arts Centre (WYC DSAC), ENCORE MELAKA is hosting open walk-in auditions on Sunday, May 26, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the theatre. They are seeking performers aged 18-30 who are passionate about the performing arts. While a prepared 1-minute performance is optional, it is highly encouraged. Previous stage experience is advantageous but not required.
Interested artists are advised to fill out an application form and attend the walk-in audition for a streamlined process. For those unable to attend in person, completing the form by 5pm on May 26 will ensure they are contacted separately.
“Providing an international arena for our local artists to showcase their talents is something very close to our heart,” added Boo. “We believe that together, we will not only elevate the artistic values of our performances but also reignite our cherished mission of narrating rich stories inspired by Malaysia’s unique and diverse cultural heritage.”
