Regarded among the great actresses in the history of Indian cinema, Sharmila Tagore recently shared a funny story at a Mother’s Day event which she attended with her granddaughter Sara Ali Khan. She recalled her late husband Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi also known as Tiger Pataudi telling her to visit the kitchen three times a day, but she jokingly told him why it wouldn’t be a good idea.
She said, “My husband told me ‘you should go to the kitchen at least three times a day.’ I said ‘Tiger, that is a very bad idea. It would be very, very counterproductive if I went to the kitchen. I will start asking ‘Yeh nahi hai, woh kaha hai. Somebody would resign. It’s much better if I don’t go to the kitchen.’ ”
The Aradhana actress then added, “At the end he gave up and started cooking himself. That was so clever of me, he started making such wonderful things. It made him so confident. He started calling people for recipes.”
The actress married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, in 1968. Their relationship created a buzz for a long time until they got married. Sharmila also talked about the struggles that she had to face before marrying the cricketer because their interfaith marriage raised a lot of eyebrows.
