Two days after an illegal black stone quarry collapsed at Dankari within Jenapur police limits, the rescue team made a grim discovery by retrieving the bodies of two more individuals from under the debris, bringing the death toll to three.
The Victims
Among the deceased, one has been identified as 21-year-old Jagabandhu Majhi from Umerkote in Nabarangapur district. The identity of the second victim is still unknown. Additionally, the labourer whose body was found on the day of the incident remains unidentified.
The Rescue Efforts
An official from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team stated that clearing the debris will be a time-consuming process due to the presence of large stones at the site. These stones can only be broken down through blasting, prolonging the rescue operation. The possibility of more casualties can only be determined once the site is completely cleared.

The incident occurred during a routine quarrying operation of black stone. It is believed that the workers became trapped due to a landslide caused by the wagon blasting conducted by the operator. While one person lost their life, three others were feared to be trapped under the debris.
