Viewers still urging people to watch gripping drama 'better than Narcos' available to watch on BBC

I know, it's pretty much impossible to believe there's a TV series out there that's better than Narcos, but trust me on this one...

In my opinion, there's no such thing as too many crime dramas. Whether that's getting sucked into the wild true story of Netflix's Baby Reindeer, or being shocked by the latest true crime documentary, you just can't go wrong with this kind of TV.

And if you're on the lookout for a new one to sink your teeth into and binge your way through, then look no further.

With six seasons to get through, this gripping drama stars Damson Idris in the leading role as a young drug dealer, tracking the stories of him and several other people affected by the surge in use of crack cocaine in Los Angeles.

Many who've watched it insist it's better than Narcos, Netflix's highly rated three-season drama about infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, and fans have been singing its praises since the final episode released last year.

We are, of course, talking about Snowfall.

The first season released way back in 2017, and it all wrapped up in 2023 - meaning that's a lot of episodes to sit and enjoy on BBC iPlayer.

Set in south central LA, Snowfall follows the early days of the crack cocaine epidemic - showing how it ravaged the local community.

The series kicks off with main character Franklin Saint (Idris) trying to make an honest living, before realising that the 'game’s rigged' and settling on selling drugs.

He then meets drug lord Avi (played by Alon Aboutboul), who gives him 24 hours to sell a brick of cocaine.

Franklin brings on his best friend Leon (Isaiah John), his uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph) and aunt Louie (Angela Lewis), with plans of expanding his empire, which causes him and his community a great deal of suffering.

Meanwhile, CIA operative Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson) takes on an off-record operation, using drugs to raise funds for weapons to fight in Nicaragua.

Fans are absolutely raving over the series, and the Rotten Tomatoes scores don't lie - with a Tomatometer score of 92% and an Audience Score of 91%, that certainly isn't too shabby!

And one fan even said 'The Sopranos, Succession and Snowfall might be the only shows that truly stuck the landing in the end with no complaints'.
