John Lennon's 'Mind Games - The Ultimate Collection' announced for release
The album has been fully authorised by Yoko Ono Lennon
Way back in 1973, John Lennon released 'Mind Games', a pivotal and intensely personal album. The album's title track came a Top 30 hit when it was released, with 'Meat City' as a B-side.
Now, more than 50 years later, a new version of the album will be released by the singer's estate, exploring the album, with new mixes, outtakes and audio documentaries.
The new album, which will be available from 12th July, has been fully authorised by Yoko Ono Lennon and produced by their son Sean Ono Lennon.
Speaking about the release, Yoko said: "John was trying to convey the message that we all play mind games. But if we can play mind games, why not make a positive future with it – to be a positive mind game?
"'Mind Games' is such an incredibly strong song. At the time, people didn't quite get the message because this was before its time. Now, people would understand it. I don't think in those days people knew they were playing mind games anyway."
What is included on 'Mind Games - The Ultimate Collection'?
The new release will feature completely remixed and expanded versions of the songs from John Lennon's 1973 album. This Ultimate Collection is from the same audio team that worked on 'Imagine' and 'John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band' Ultimate Collections.
This new album will put listeners in the middle of the studio recording sessions, taking them through the recording process as they get to hear all the outtakes and different versions of songs from the album.

What formats is the new album available on?
'Mind Games - The Ultimate Collection' will be available in a variety or formats, ranging from digital, 2CD, 2LP versions to a Deluxe box set featuring 6CDs and 2 Blu-ray discs. There is also a Super Deluxe Edition, which is a Limited Edition of only 1100 copies worldwide.
