County Adaptation Film Festival film premiere draws sold-out crowd

A sold-out crowd attended the gala film premiere of ‘The Peasants” in The Regent Theatre in recent days, but the main event is yet to come as plans unfold for the first County Adaptation Film Festival in September.

Founded by Alexandra Seay and Sol Korngold, the festival will run Sept.27 through 29. Funding has been provided by several sponsors including the Ontario Trillium Foundation , also,The Armoury, Base 31, Closson Chase Vinyards, The Eddie and Karlo Estates.

Behind this first festival is a team comprising John Galway, festival producer; Diana Sanchez. curatorial assistant; Ally LaMere-Shedden, publicist; Mary Ann Farrell, marketing director; and Bonnie Clarke, event producer.

Opening night will be another gala screening in The Regent Theatre with a public party to follow in the Armoury Square.

Saturday starts early with a morning screening at The Regent, a free family event at Base 31, an in-depth conversation event at Closson-Chase Winery; an afternoon screening in The Regent and an evening screening with another post-screening party. A Festival Lounge will also operate throughout the day at Karlo Estates Winery.

The wrap-up on Sunday includes an industry event at The Eddie, and a final afternoon screening with conversation in The Regent.

Also involved in this festival are the County Stage Company with Mark Sakamoto as a programming partner and Deepa Mehta of the Bay of Quinte Film Commission as a sponsor.
