Jesus this is nice. I have Bermuda in AZ and can’t nearly get it this “full” or uniform. It seems to be growing well from the tentacles or whatever you call them keep growing and have color. I assume just time.

I’m landscaper in AZ, it’s been a really mild May and Bermuda doesn’t really start to thicken up until soil temps are above 75°.

I’m sure it’s way more humid in Texas right now too which helps a lot.

u/brightcoconut097 avatar

My man thank you. So just stay the course and let it do its thang? I’m sure it’ll be great come monsoon season

Hit it with some humic acid then just hammer it with water as much as possible without having run off. Don’t bag the clippings unless there are weeds.

The humic acid isn’t cheap but is well worth it imo, you’ll notice your lawn will look “spongier” within a few minutes of applying it.

Around August it should be in peak form since it’s a lot more humid during that time 👌

After the soil temps start to rise, how long should it take to get decently green. Asking from CA

I like to use ironite for quick green ups. Apply then water daily for a week, cheap and reliable product.

u/greatgatzB avatar

dude no way thats real. thats crazy.

We’re in west Texas and absolutely loving the rain. Your grass looks incredible. This is probably the nicest this strip has ever been 🤣

I have a Bermuda lawn too and holy shit is yours nice, that’s what I want mine to look like eventually. Any specific fungicide you recommend?

u/Johnykbr avatar

OC is rocking a hybrid grade of bermuda which common can't duplicate 99 percent of the time but even still that is gorgeous.

u/Opposite-Bad1444 avatar

Propiconazole - any brand is fine, i’m not big on brands

Is that a sidewalk or a putting green.

DAAAAAMN that's sweet

Just got Bermuda sod laid a week ago. In DFW too. Can you lay fungicide this early after putting down new sod? Or should I just let her sip and give her haircuts for now?

u/GravyBaptism avatar

Holy shit people’s lawns actually look like this? Iowan checking in.

What fertilizer do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

u/Opposite-Bad1444 avatar

use a few different ones but N source is spraying ammonium sulfate weekly

lol legit it looks fake Wow

Dallas and North Houston have been getting it good (as well as East Texas - really just east of 35 or north of anywhere that benefits Lake Travis. Just watch, the next system that rolls through will fuck over the Texas hill country with sympathy sprinkles and proceed to dump east of 35.

Sir...can I have my carpet back? Jk. Looks amazing.

u/SwimOk9629 avatar

wow that's impressive my guy

u/BrandonioBrown avatar

What in the hell are you doing that I’m not haha my Bermuda parkways aren’t golf ready like yours 😂😂

I wish my grass looked like this 🥲

u/Mmetasequoia avatar

Dont forget to clean any excess that falls into the street and side walks areas! This is vital to water quality!

u/Fleetwood889 avatar

That looks more like centipede to me.

Since it’s at the intersection of concrete with no other info but a picture, I’d guess it’s dry or compacted

u/reyzak avatar

What do you do if that’s the case?

If it’s dry, water it. If it’s compacted, aerate it

u/bentendo93 avatar

Could you simplify it more for me? 😜

u/Mysticalnarbwhal2 avatar

WATER AND/OR STAB

Great response and I thank you for it even if I wasn't the one who asked and knew what to do.

It might feel obvious to most people here but there's always a lot of newcomers who don't know what aerating is and stuff. It's always good to help them. I was a newcomer once too and I didn't know shit about grass.

Yep, hope I didn’t come across as a dick. Genuinely trying to be helpful while juggling work and kids haha. Short and to the point! I would absolutely elaborate if needed.

Did it come out of dormancy like this? I’d be surprised if this developed after the lawn had fully greened up. Looks a little dry but who knows from a picture. Could’ve accidentally scalped a bit there if his other mower wheel went up on the sewer drain over there. In any case, just needs time, water, mowing, sunlight. Some fert if he hasn’t had any yet this year. It’ll bounce back

The only issue is time, still early, scalp and wait.

Might be weed killer? Just sprayed my yard and the bottle specifies not to use on bermuda.

If they haven’t put down a fungicide I would. I’m in TX as well and it’s been real wet. I’ve put down two applications actually of different fungicides.

u/weownthesky69 avatar

Looks super long for Bermuda. Heading into spring scalp it down to dirt and start again.

u/BriefDragonfruit9460 avatar

It’s the neighbors, who cares? Help you dominate

Plot twist: There is no neighbor

u/BriefDragonfruit9460 avatar

My thoughts exactly haha….”asking for a friend”

It’s hard to kill Bermuda, it will be ok

Do dogs lift their leg there when walking by?

Texas is far from Bermuda

u/singluon avatar

Fungus. Also it’s waay too long.

I’d bet there’s leftover concrete buried there just under the surface. Happened to me.

u/Jutboy avatar

Focus on your own lawn

Maybe the neighbor asked for help 🤷

Or they’re worried it’ll spread to his lawn.

No reason to be a prick

It amazes me that people like you can’t fathom any scenario in which OPs neighbor asked him for advice on his lawn and OP came here to ask this sub. Don’t you think that is a possibility, in fact, more likely than what you’re insinuating? You think OP is gonna “fix” his neighbors lawn without his neighbor knowing? Use your brain.

u/ScoopskyPotatoes12 avatar
Edited

Idk I feel like everyone else here is jumping to the conclusions and won’t even consider the possibility that OP is an intrusive neighbor posting pictures of his neighbors property without permission. We don’t even know where the property line is. For all we know this isn’t even anywhere close to OP’s own lawn. I can’t believe the vitriol this guy got for posting a simple comment that could very very possibly be right on target. Very strange that members of r/lawncare are so on board with intrusive people messing with other people’s lawns. (Not saying that happened here, but it very well could’ve). I, for one, don’t get it.

Edit: Wow someone from this community actually sent me one of those “reddit care resources” things oftentimes sent to encourage someone to kill themselves. This is the only thing I have commented on in recent times. Whoever sent that needs to get a life. Also, definitely getting off this sub. A bunch of losers here I guess. Honestly pretty sad about this. Just shows where our society is I guess. Going to add this to a few of my comments because people need to see it. That shits not ok, and it’s ridiculous that someone feels the need to use it on a lawn care forum. Whoever it is, I feel bad for you, but you really need to grow the fuck up.

u/misplacedbass avatar

What’s a more likely scenario though? Helping a neighbor out, or diagnosing a problem with his neighbors lawn… for what purpose? If they are strained neighbors, what do you think OP could even do? Go treat his neighbors lawn, go knock on his door and ask if he can treat his lawn? It just doesn’t make sense.

To me, the likeliest scenario is that OP and his neighbor are friends and his neighbor may want answers, and OP said “hey, I know a place I can ask”. I know that my neighbors and I are on great terms and I could see this scenario playing out easily.

u/ScoopskyPotatoes12 avatar

Having had a neighbor who would totally go out and treat it himself without telling anyone what they are doing or what chemicals they are using, along with no regard for what steps the property owner is already taking, I can tell you that it is a very real possibility. I’m happy that you haven’t been stuck with an intrusive and rude neighbor but they certainly do exist, and it really isn’t very uncommon. It’s always best to mind your own property in my opinion.

I really don’t find your scenario any more likely than mine given the information we have from OP.

Yeah. You're everything wrong with the world today. Screw being a good friend or good neighbor, right?

u/ScoopskyPotatoes12 avatar

I mean, to be fair, this could very easily be a case of OP being an intrusive neighbor. Which I can tell you from first experience is really fucking annoying and downright awful. It really sucks having to worry about your neighbor fussing about your property when it doesn’t even look bad, it’s just not how they think it needs to look. There are a lot of those types of neighbors in the world and I think, in general, things work better when people mind their own property.

I get it I guess. BTW I didn't send you anything. I understand your take.

I imagined an older neighbor reaching out for help and him posting here.

Dude...don't leave because of this. I was just making a joke...there is no reason for people to get upset or even to really care. I literally don't care about the down votes at all....I thought it was funny...I'll take the down votes if other people don't think it's funny...in my head that's fair.  None of this stuff matters...

I’m quite surprised you are being downvoted so hard on this. There is such a huge possibility that OP is an intrusive prick posting pictures of his neighbors property online without permission. In fact I highly highly doubt OP was asked by his neighbor to post this or otherwise got permission.
