A woman was left shaken after a fake coworker called the police to her door.
TikToker Sheryl (@_sherylll) shared a video explaining that a fake coworker had sent the police around to her house for a ‘wellness check’.
Police explained on her doorstep that they had been called as she had not turned up for work, but there was just one issue with this - Sheryl works from home.
Despite not going into the office, she assured them that she took part in Zoom meetings and was in contact with her fellow colleagues everyday, so they would have been aware she was okay.

In this video, which has now amassed 446,000 views, she said: “I just got a knock on my door, and it was two police officers and a social worker.
“They said that they were here to do a wellness check on me.”
A wellness check is usually called for someone else by a friend or family member, who hasn’t heard from the person and is concerned for their welfare.
She added that the unwanted visit couldn’t have been a mix up, because they had the correct first and last name.

The story began to get even more sinister, when she realised that the person who had called in for the wellness check, didn’t even work at her company.
She explained that she typed the name into the employee directory just to be sure, but the results came back with nothing.
The police, along with a social worker who they brought along, decided to leave as it was clear Sheryl was okay.

In the video, she said: “I’m just like really confused.”
People in the comments were concerned for Sheryl, with one saying: “Tell your HR department.”
Another said: “I wonder if someone is stalking you?”
A third added: “Check your credit score & SSN.

“Someone could have gotten some of your info.
“Maybe a data breach & they have a job using your info.”
Sheryl then made a follow-up video, talking about how she contacted the police after the incident as she wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Whilst clarifying with viewers that the officers who came to her door were real, she added: “I’m also really confident that it was not somebody in my life who called in their report under a fake name like a lot of people were suggesting.”
After doing some research, she found that there was another person in her neighborhood with the same first and last name, which could explain the bizarre incident.
