The Gaels varsity baseball team has enjoyed an impressive wins record this season!

Varsity Baseball, with veteran Coach Bob Fletcher at the help, is ending regular season play ranked #1 by Lohud. From the write up: “Kennedy was busy, with four games in four days, but they stayed upbeat and got two thrilling wins over Iona Prep. Kennedy lost a heartbreaker in an April 17 suspended game that was resumed on Saturday and finished with St. Joseph’s by the Sea enjoying a walk off win in the 12th inning. The Gaels got back on track with a win over Regis to start the week.”

The Gaels celebrated Senior night on May 6th, defeating Regis 2-1 with Senior and Mercy University Commit Omar Giret nearly completing a no hit no run game. Junior and Seton Hall commit Ryan Strnad with 2 outs and the bases loaded came in with a rope down the line to sore sophomore Lorenzo Jorge for the win.

Girls Basketball

Madison Carlo also made the news – MaxPrep lists her at No. 4 among high school girls in NYS this past season with 84 3-pointers made. She is planning to attend Manhattanville College to play for their team. In addition to her ability to shoot long, she also exhibits strong defensive skills; hence she was recruited!

Madison began making her long shots on a consistent basis in 7th Grade, while playing CYO basketball. Perhaps her biggest moment to date was her 3 pointer late in a game in which Kennedy Prep came from behind and won 53-50, giving the Gaels their first ever Catholic High School Athletic Association girls basketball league title.
