Teen Mom Star Jenelle Evans Granted 6-Month Restraining Order Against Estranged Husband David Eason

Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans has been granted a restraining order against her estranged husband David Eason.

A judge granted Evans’ request for a six-month domestic violence protective order for her and her three children from Eason, 35, in court on Thursday, May 16, PEOPLE has confirmed. 

"Jenelle is excited to move forward with her life. She's focused on her children, herself and her career,” Evans’ manager August Keen tells PEOPLE in a statement following the news.

“She expressed huge relief after the judge granted the restraining order,” Keen explains. “She hasn't been this happy in a very long time. Big things are already lined up for her and she looks forward to her bright future. A lot of surprises in store which can be seen on future episodes of Teen Mom."

PEOPLE also reached out to representatives for Eason, but they did not immediately respond.

The 16 and Pregnant alum’s attorney, Brandon Pettijohn, told the U.S. Sun that under the protective order, Eason would be unable to post about Evans or her children on social media or visit the children at school. He would also be required to surrender his firearms. 

Pettijohn added that no provisions were made to Evans and Eason’s active child custody case over their daughter Ensley Jolie, 7. Evans also shares son Jace Vahn, 14, with ex Andrew Lewis and Kaiser Orion, 9, with ex Nathan Griffith.

The couple legally separated in March after six years together. Evans publicly announced the news on TikTok, with an initial TikTok to Lady Gaga’s “Applause” saying, “Can I get some appreciation? I filed for separation.” In the caption, she added, “New Chapter Unlocked 🔒✨.”

In a follow-up video, she explained that she needed to file for separation before filing for divorce in North Carolina. According to the mother of three, the state requires couples to be legally separated for a year and have two separate addresses, which has been difficult as they never “wanted to leave” their home. 

“Whenever I had the window of opportunity that I was able to file for separation and I filed something called separation by bed and board,” she shared. “If you guys see each other one time, hook up and end up back together just for a night, but then you argue and you're like, ‘Nah this isn't going good,' it doesn't matter. The clock restarts, so they're very particular here, which is crazy."

Evans and Eason tied the knot in September 2017, though the pair have had a rocky relationship since then, splitting in October 2019 and reconciling in early 2020.

Evans previously opened up about her decision to get back together during a YouTube Q&A saying, “Me and him are deciding to work things out right now and we’re taking it slowly.”

Throughout their marriage, Eason also faced several controversies, including his firing from Teen Mom 2 in 2018 following a homophobic Twitter rant. He also shot and killed their family dog in 2019 after the canine bit then-2-year-old Ensley in the face and he was arrested for driving with a revoked license and open container in 2021.
