Granquist, Elaine Marie (Moehring) 03/20/1938 - 05/14/2024 Elaine was born on March 20, 1938 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and was welcomed into the heavenly realm promised by her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Herman H. Moehring and Bernice (Mohn) Moehring, Husband, Robert Granquist, sisterin-law Virginia Moehring, brother-in-law Carl Huebner and nephew Robert Moehring. At her request, cremation has taken place, and she will be interred at the family resting place in Greenwood cemetery, East Tawas, Michigan. Elaine graduated from Tawas Area High School class of 1955 and received her B.A. at Central Michigan University and Masters from Michigan State University. She loved following Michigan State sports and was a true Spartan to the end. Her teaching career path took her to many places including Oakland CA, Oscoda, MI and a divided Germany during the height of the Cold War where she taught the children of military personnel stationed there. Elaine eventually found her home in Plymouth, MN where she educated and inspired many young students until her retirement in 1996 from the Robbinsdale school district. Elaine continued to live out her love of teaching children through her volunteer work at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Kinder Konzerts. These endeavors gave her much joy as she loved seeing the excitement and wonder in their young faces. It was in Plymouth where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Granquist. Together they enjoyed many years traveling, gardening and entertaining at their home on Schmidt Lake. Elaine continued this tradition after Bob's death in 2004, and she faithfully remembered Bob on his special days thereafter. Elaine especially loved her canine buddies, Gretta, Lily, Lily Bear and Winston. These dear animals gave her so much comfort and companionship over the years. Elaine danced through life with a cadre of wonderful friends sharing much love and laughter. She skied the Alps, snorkeled in the Carribean and zip lined in Central America. She had an amazing gift of seamlessly engaging everyone she met regardless of age or background through her humor and always took a genuine personal interest in their lives. Always the life of the party, things just spontaneously brightened with her presence. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the good fortune to call her friend and even more so by her loving family. Elaine is survived by her brothers and sisters, Dr. H.
