Final Cut Pro trial !

Help

I need advice / help! The Final Cut Pro trial period will end soon. I plan to use this program in the future, but not to buy but to use a trial version. Yes, I know that I will need to uninstall and reinstall. I have a question in this regard. How do I uninstall and reinstall the program without losing data?

Pirate it

I think FCPX library's are totally independent of the application. Other than any customized setting or change to Preferences, you won't loose a thing.

Just buy it. It's 300 bucks. Or get it on education for half that if you're a student. It's not expensive at all for a lifetime license for a professional app. In any case they're probably moving to a subscription model in future, so I'd say cheaper to buy it now.

There used to be a fix where you could just change a file in the installation that resets the trial. Libraries are stored separately, in the Movies folder by default, when you re-install, point Final Cut to where your libraries are and it will work normally.

At that point just torrent it. Legally it's the same.

I think it kinda isn't. By Torrenting you are supporting cracking groups who distribute cracked software.

If you “DYI” you are exploiting a loophole and basically using the trial over and over again. Pirated software comes nicely pre-cracked, it's ready as is. If someone were to look at your PC they would only find a legal trial version.

It's more about person's morals I think. If I had any, which, with every app on my Mac being pirated, I clearly don't, I'd probably feel less guilty about reusing the trial than about downloading a cracked version from a pirate site.

With Final Cut it's actually not too much of a hassle since you only have to do it once every three months. Some apps only have like 7 day trials, which would be a pain in the ass.

Also there was a guy who went to an Apple Store and AirDropped the full version of Final Cut that was installed on the Mac there lol. Not sure if it was actually working in the end, but there was a post about it the other day.

You'd be using unlicensed, modified version no matter how you slice it.

No, you can just uninstall and reinstall it. It doesn't say you can't use the trial more than once.

You didn't buy it, but you also didn't crack it, you legally downloaded it from their website for free and so you're still using the limited version.

Is this a proven way? Will it work in any case? Even if I disabled Transcode in the Final Cut Pro settings?

This is how it always is with Pro apps, you would need to also link your files once you have your project open in the event if they are not in the same location anymore. If you lost your footage, then its game over.

It still worked as of a few months ago
