Man seriously injured after violent daytime attack in busy Scots town centre

A man was left seriously injured after a violent attack in a busy Scots town centre yesterday.

Emergency services rushed to a lane just off Causeyside Street in Paisley at around 5.10pm on Saturday, May 11. The 55-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medics describe his condition as serious.

The man was attacked by two men who first starting shouting in his direction on Causeyside Street near to Forbes Place. The men then followed the man into Marshalls Lane where they carried out the brutal assault.

Detectives have launched a probe into the serious assault as they look to track down the two attackers.

Police say the town centre would have been busy at the time and have urged witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Neil Martin said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances and gather more information on the two men responsible for this violent attack.

“The town centre would have been busy at the time of this assault. I urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us as soon as possible.”
