Frogs Win Streak Snapped Saturday

TCU sets school-record with 31st double-digit strikeout game

FORT WORTH – New Mexico State built an 8-0 lead and carried it to a 9-5 victory as the Aggies snapped TCU's four game winning streak Saturday at Lupton Stadium. Peyton Chatagnier had two hits and drove in two to lead the Horned Frogs offensively.

The Rundown
New Mexico State built an 8-0 lead through the first three innings. The Aggies' Titus Dumitru was a thorn in the side of the Horned Frogs with a first inning solo home run and a second inning grand slam.

TCU picked up a pair of runs in the fifth to get on the board. Karson Bowen and Ryder Robinson opened the inning with hits. A Payton Chatagnier base knock drove in the first run of the game for TCU. Two batters later, Logan Maxwell delivered an RBI-single. The Aggies turned a double play to minimize the damage in the inning.

Three more runs crossed the plate in the sixth as TCU pulled within three, 8-5. A Bowen base hit drove in the first run of the inning. Chatagnier hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to drive in Anthony Silva. An errant pick-off throw allowed Bowen to score.

TCU would get no closer as the Aggies brought in their closer. New Mexico State picked up a big insurance run in the eighth to account for the final score.

Zachary Cawyer (6-2) started for the Frogs. He allowed six runs on three hits, walked three and struck out two in two innings of work. Caedmon Parker tossed 4 1/3 innings. He allowed a run on two hits, walked one and struck out five. Braeden Sloan struck out all three he faced in the ninth.
