Tiger Woman

A tiger woman with black nails and honey irises
A woman, a beautiful thing that happened to me
Rubbing the brown gold skin of her body against mine
Told me that evil is can be good and kindness can be cruel

And while this Deity's hair trembles against a godless wind
She tells me with hazy details everything she went through
That she was into radical politics in 1966
And now raves at Frenetic Dancing Days

She tells me she once was an actress who performed in Hair
That some men, made her happy while others made her 'mujer'
That her heart is filled with rage though she's given so much love
That she shared tons of pleasure and loads of pain

At the same time, she says that everything is about to change
'Cause she will be what she always wanted, creating a world
Where people and Nature will live in blissful communion
Where the tigress will have more power than the lion.

The cat woman's glaws left a mark in my heart
But the childish tall tales she shared, not as much
I just ran to my guitar, kind of blue, and dawn broke across the sky.
It just feels so good when I play* an instrument...

Notes: (play, in Portuguese, also means "touch"; instrument, especially guitars, can be used to mean a shapely woman's body).
No special effort was made toward rhyming and cadence. This is chiefly a translation of meaning, not of form. Caetano's verses can have many meanings and double entendre.
Frenetic Dancing Days was a famous disco in Rio, back in the 70s. Akin to Studio 54 in NYC.
