What is a small-town accent?

In the song 5’9 by Tyler Hubbard, he says she “loves Tim McGraw and a small-town accent. I can’t figure out what it is supposed to mean? Does anyone know?

Country music has a market it appeals to, namely middle america conservatives and the south. It used to be mostly the south and Appalachia, but over the past 50 years with identity politics pitting big cities against small towns as liberals vs conservatives, it has spread throughout the “flyover” states. Calling the accent a small town accent is like calling it a southern accent but without alienating the midwest market.

That makes sense, I did always associate the accent with slower speaking style essentially
