FSU head coach Mike Norvell provided a post-spring practice injury update on Wednesday.
Norvell announced that wide receiver Destyn Hill will miss all of the 2024 season with an injury suffered during the spring, Noles247 was first to report the news.
“He’s going to be out for the season,” Norvell said. “It’s unfortunate that that happens. I’ve really liked his mindset, his approach. Even here early in the process of his rehabilitation. He’s really attacking what this year can be. Even from the mental aspect of it, continuing to learn, continuing to grow. I have a high belief of what his future is going to be here. He was showing tremendous flashes there in spring ball. Just unfortunate that the injury he has is going to keep him out for the season that’s ahead.”
Hill was hampered by injuries last season, his first with the Seminoles. He appeared in 10 games for FSU, catching six passes for 87 yards.
“Those guys came out of it — obviously it’s unfortunate anytime you have anybody go down in a last scrimmage or game situation. But both of those guys should be ready to go once we get back for fall camp,” Norvell said of Benson and Ferguson. “Just going through their rehab process. It was encouraging on both of them that there was nothing that was going to be too long of a rehab process.”
Ferguson and Benson both transferred in this offseason from Alabama and are expected to have key roles on the offense. Benson is in the mix to be FSU’s No. 1 wide receiver while Ferguson is battling to win a starting guard spot.
