Lyrics to the hymn, Just As I Am

Mossy logs

Introduction

 Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn by Charlotte Elliot, Just As I Am.

She wrote it in 1835, and it is now published in over 2,000 hymnals.

Both Carrie Underwood and Alan Jackson sang it, so that's where you go to learn the tune.

Personally, I listen to Carrie's version more.

Just As I Am is about coming to Christ, and trusting that He will take away your sins.

Now, as I have nothing else to add, on with the show!

The Lyrics

Verse 1

Just as I am, without one plea,

But that Thy blood was shed for me,

And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Verse 2

Just as I am, and waiting not,

To rid my soul of one dark blot;

To Thee who's blood can cleanse each spot,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Verse 3

Just as I am, though tossed about,

With many a conflict, many a doubt;

Fightings within, and fears without,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Verse 4

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;

Sight, riches, healing of the mind;

Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Verse 5

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,

Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;

Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Verse 6

Just as I am, Thy love unknown,

Has broken every barrier down;

Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Afterwards

Isn't it a nice song?

Verse four kind of hits me, because once I was wretched and sought healing of the mind; God helped me, and now I am fairly mentally stable.

Fairly.

I still laugh loud.

A remarkable telephone pole
