PAGASA Says Hot & Humid Weather to Prevail Across PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the heat index in 40 areas may reach a “danger level”.

On Tuesday (May 14, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A frontal system will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that generally fair weather and isolated thunderstorms are forecast in the rest of the country, about 40 areas in the country may experience a dangerous heat index level reaching up to 47°C.

However, a frontal system may bring overcast skies and rain should be expected over parts of extreme northern Luzon, Batanes, as well as the northeastern portion of Cagayan.

“Isang frontal system ang posibleng makaapekto sa may extreme northern Luzon area, so diyan po sa Batanes pati na rin sa northeastern portion ng Cagayan – asahan ang kalat kalat na mga pagulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog,” Torres said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring generally fair weather conditions over other parts of Luzon with chances of isolated rain in the afternoon and evening. Hot and humid temperatures will prevail over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Torres reported that no low-pressure areas are expected to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Kaya asahan natin hanggang sa mga susunod na araw ay magpapatuloy pa rin ‘yung mainit at maalinsangang panahon sa bansa (so expect hot and humid temperatures to continue in the following days,” she added.

Meanwhile, PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any parts of the country but moderate to rough waters are expected over extreme northern Luzon.Here is the list of heat indexes in major cities:
