AZUSA, Calif. - Four school records fell on Saturday afternoon as the California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team took part in the Franson Last Chance Meet at Azusa Pacific University.
Each of the four times moved the respective Coyote individuals into at least the top 13 nationally, putting each student athlete and relay team in great shape to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
The strongest showing of the day came in the 4x400 meter relay, where the Coyote quartet of
Prishencia Nnoham (Palmdale, Calif.),
Na'kel Pennix (Redlands, Calif.),
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), and
Alexis White (San Bernardino, Calif.) shattered their own school record by nearly six seconds. With a time of 3:38.79, the Yotes moved from 28th in the nation to fifth in the nation in the blink of an eye.
The 4x100 meter relay team of
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.),
Hailey Hunt (), Hope, and
Kyndahl Carter (Los Angeles, Calif.) moved into sixth in the nation with their program record time of 44.88 seconds on Saturday afternoon, all but punching their ticket to Kansas.
Carter and Hunt were both not done setting school records on the afternoon. Carter toppled her own school record in the 100 meter hurdles, running a time of 13.81 to move into 11th in the nation. Hunt set the school record in the 200 meter run with a time of 23.49, good for 13th in the nation.
