humans, the only creature in the universe with the ability to become attached to something that wants to kill/hurt them

writing prompt

I'm serious, if it weren't for the fact that they're tough as hell, those shaved paruliks would have been extinct a long time ago.

Well hello bad dragon my name is donkey😏

Dronkeys.

Oh yea, it's a whole subgenre! Can't recall the series name, but it's a story about a girl and her BestFriend(tm) bad dragon and the adventures they have together. Just Google "girl riding bad dragon" and you should find it.

Yes, the giant, ferocious predator capable of tearing a space ship in half to get at the reactor core is terrifying but what's the problem? It is still friend shaped.

This is the most successful hunter in the world. The black-footed cat. Kbity.

u/Forward-Photograph-7 avatar

Heh, cute. Would pet it or adopt it

Would commit war crimes for it.

Are you attached to your hand?

Would you like to not be anymore?

More replies

Objection! Dragonflies still win, but this is the most successful hunter that also looks like it's soft to cuddle.

u/Ruvaakdein avatar

I meant as in mammals, but yes. The dragonfly is almost always successful in its hunts. I think it was around 97% success rate.

Dragonfly 1 this Dragonfly 2, I got a bead on the bandit at angels .1 bearing 230⁰ over...

The bandit in question: Frantic buzzing noices...

I do wonder if like certain physical features appearing as a side effect of domestication (floppy ears in dogs, the white patches on horses foreheads, etc), if the ability/desire to packbond with literally anything is a side effect of evolving a "humanoid" form.

u/Flameball202 avatar

You are correct, droopy ears in canines (in adulthood) is a sign of domestication, if wolves or foxes are raised by humans for multiple generations then their ears will stop raising up when they mature

u/somegarbagedoesfloat avatar

They also lose a lot of the fox vocalizations and sound more like dogs.

See also: puppy eyes.

In case you’re curious, what you’re referring to is called domestication syndrome.

I misread that as Dragon Bard and I'm gonna assume the Princess did too.

r/humansarespacebards is leaking again... xD

Leaking shouldn't be paired with that subs name....

...oozing?

That's worse.

That is so much worse

If not friend, why friend shaped?

They need to make a tv show or movie where that is the entire plot

"The human did what?" The Captain's growl made every being on the bridge look for cover.

The Excursions Officer trembled slightly. "The human designated as Carl brought a Twarlek on board, Ma'am. Smuggled it on board, technically."

The Captain visibly restrained herself and spoke through gritted teeth. "May l assume that the Twarlek is, at least, not a full grown adult? Or do l have a 900 kilogram  apex predator on my ship?"

"It's a newborn, Captain. Maybe 2 kilos."

The Captain sighed. "That is, l suppose, a relief. Where did you find the Twarlek?"

"Ummmm...it's asleep, Captain, in the human's bed... with the human...Carl... l... um... went to... visit Carl... the human... and..."

"Visit?" The Captain interrupted the obviously embarrassed officer.

"Yes ma'am" The Excursions Officer looked steadfastly at the deck. "We were both off duty..."

"Did you inform the human about Twarleks?" The Captain interrupted again.

"Yes ma'am. Carl said he intends to keep it as a 'pet' and he has named it 'Fluffy'... "

“Please be scared of me” is probably one of my favourite character types.

I feel there is an extra panel to this comic of the dragon just going. "....I..I am your big scary dragon"

Then in the last panel it purrs.

It really doesn't help that the dragon's clothing makes them look particularly cozy.

u/Resident_Onion997 avatar

The design of that dragon reminds me of an animatic of AM from I have no mouth and I must scream

u/themegauser avatar

If you didn't want to be friends, then you shouldn't have been friend shaped

Reminds me of that one rant in Community where Jeff humanizes a pencil then snaps it and everyone's immediately saddened.

u/N0rwayUp avatar

What is this images source?

Why is the dragon cosplaying as Ahsoka Tano?

Yup, i've even known a few to befriend a constellated consciousness, ended up with them being absorbed and becoming roves looking for supplies
