Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 15+ years of leadership experience in development and delivery of Military sysetms. Applicants with a Master's degree and minimum of 13 years of related leadership experience are also eligible.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.



Responsibilities for this Position

The position can be successfully fulfilled from either Dedham MA, Taunton MA, or Pittsfield MA.

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our DoD customers. GDMS has an immediate opening for the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Chief Engineer. Our team works closely with United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and our Air Force and Navy customers to develop, deploy, and sustain resilient solutions that provide assured command and control of our nations strategic deterrent.

The selected candidate will lead definition of technical strategies and solutions within our NC3 business segment. The strategic deterrent mission demands we deliver advanced capabilities for our warfighters through high reliability, high assurance, cyber-resilient systems. As the Chief Engineer, you will lead development of technical road-maps and hold final technical authority over the design, production, installation, and activation of systems that satisfy our customers functional, behavioral, afford-ability, interface, and operational requirements. In this role, you will work closely with our Business Development organization to understand customer needs and present conceptual solutions aligned with GDMS capabilities. You will also drive consistent implementation of design-to-cost processes and work to optimize these processes to sharpen competitiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Systems architect with broad background in various engineering disciplines (e.g., systems, software, electrical, mechanical, cyber, communications)
  • Experience with the design, certification, and operation of strategic weapon systems inclusive of ICBMs, SLBMs, strategic bombers, and NC3 systems
  • Experience with full engineering life-cycle of complex military systems including concept development, requirements specification, design, integration, test, verification, validation, logistics, training, sustainment, and obsolescence management
  • Proven ability to engage customers, understand requirements, present candidate solutions, and adapt solutions to align with evolving needs
  • Development and implementation of technology road-maps in support of long-range strategic objectives, including planning and oversight of Independent Research and Development (IRAD) activities aligned with these objectives
  • Experience as technical lead on competitive proposals containing significant engineering development and manufacturing content
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to clearly present technical concepts to customer and company leadership, both technical and programmatic
  • Experience assessing and managing technical risks and leading the investigation and resolution of technical issues on critical, high visibility programs
  • Experience with military networks, communication systems, and associated technologies
  • Demonstrated success leading large, distributed, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams in developing and delivering cost-effective solutions to customer problems

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $209,255.80 - USD $232,143.20 /Yr.
