If you don’t bet on Romania at Euro 2024, then who?

The alternatives are more than appealing, it’s a great tournament, a footballing royalty and where you find the best bets on football. Many punters find that national team matches are more predictable, easier to predict and more profitable than club team matches. That’s a good point to consider, but it doesn’t mean that the team with the most expensive players will inevitably win, nor that weaker teams will continually cash in.

EURO 2024

Goals and scorers at the European Championship

Goolgeter

The only player to score 9 goals at a European Championship was France’s Michel Platini in 1994. The other top scorer was Antoine Griezmann (France) in 2016 with 6. And the list of recent goalscorers looks like this:

2020 Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Patrick Schick (Czech Republic) – 5 goals

2016 Antoine Griezmann (France) – 6 goals

2012 Fernando Torres (Spain), Alan Dzagoev (Russia), Mario Gomez (Germany), Mario Mandzukic (Croatia), Mario Balotelli (Italy) and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) – 3 goals.

The best players at the European Championship

A list of impressive names, players we’ve admired playing and (often) bet on to score or not concede. That’s mostly because at the last EC the player of the tournament was named Gianlugi Donnarumma, Italy’s goalkeeper.

2020 Gianluigi Donnarumma (Italy)

2016 Antoine Griezmann (France)

2012 Andres Iniesta (Spain)

2002 Xavi Hernandez (Spain)

2004 Theodoros Zagorakis (Greece)

2000 Zinedine Zidane (France)

Romania’s national team 6 times at the European Championship

It has been present at 5 editions of the EC between 1984 and 2016, the 6th appearance will be in Germany 2024. The best performance was the quarter-final with Italy in 2020.

Romania will have a debut against the lowest ranked team in the group at EURO 2024 on 17 June. The match against Ukraine will take place at Bayern Munich’s stadium and the group games will be:

17 June, 16:00: Romania – Ukraine (Allianz Arena, Munich)

22 June, 22:00: Belgium – Romania (Rhein Energie in Cologne)

26 June, 19:00: Slovakia – Romania (Waldstadion in Frankfurt)

How much you get if you bet on EURO 2024

Germany and Spain each have 3 titles followed by Italy and France with 2 trophies. Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo made a splash last tournament with 5 goals and an assist.

A great bet at Unibet is Position at the end Terms Each Way: 1/2 1-2 which allows you to bet on a team’s ranking in first position but also in Top 2, Top 4, Top 8. More flexibility for players.

Italy took the title in 2020 after a 3-2 penalty shoot-out win over England. It was 1-1 in regulation time in the tournament final played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Odds @15 for Italy, if you bet 100 lei you win 1500 lei.

Germany (the host country) is in its 14th appearance at the EURO and the national team with the most tournaments under its belt. A team with a lot of midfielders in the squad and high expectations. Odds @7.00 for Germany, if you bet 100 lei you win 700 lei.

Portugal are making their 9th consecutive appearance at the European Championship. Cristiano Ronaldo’s team had impressive numbers in qualifying. Odds @9.00 for Portugal, if you bet 100 lei you win 900 lei.

France is on its 11th appearance and has the last 9 consecutive appearances, the second team after Germany with the most tournaments to its credit. The value of the players recommends the Welsh Rooster as the main favourite. Odds @4.50 for France, if you bet 100 lei you win 450 lei.

Belgium is making its 7th appearance at the EC and the first time it has qualified for 3 consecutive European finals. Romania’s opponents in the group will be a team determined to confirm. Odds @15.00 for Belgium, if you bet 100 lei you win 1500 lei.

England are making their 11th appearance. It is the team with the most games played in the EC without a win, 38 games. The odds give them as the first favourite, the group of players is excellent, it remains to be seen if they will be able to impose and keep a very high pace of play. Odds @4.25 for England, if you bet 100 lei you win 425 lei.

Spain are in their 12th appearance. It is also the only country that managed to defend its 2008 title by winning the tournament in 2012. Odds @9.00 for Spain, if you bet 100 lei you win 900 lei.

Denmark is making its 10th appearance. They won the title in 1992 qualifying thanks to the disqualification of Yugoslavia, a team sanctioned due to the war.

The Netherlands are making their 11th appearance at the EC. The Oranje won the title in 1988 by beating the USSR 2-0 in the final. Even though they are far from that team, the Netherlands can win against any opponent but have problems with consistency. Odds @17.00 for Netherlands, if you bet 100 lei you win 1700 lei.

Regardless of our sympathies and expectations, betting on the EC in Germany should be responsible, reasonable, fun. Of course, they should bring us profit and the sensations we are looking for and at the end of the tournament we should have memories to tell. Maybe it will be Mbappe’s tournament, maybe Cristiano Ronaldo will confirm that age is just a number or maybe Kane will manage to lead England to a triumph dreamed of by many supporters. It remains to be seen and to bet!
