William (Bill) Powell Lee Sr.

William (Bill) Powell Lee Sr., 86, of Picayune, passed away Saturday, May 4, in Huntingdon, Tenn. He was born June 6, 1937, in New Orleans to Francis W. “Goat” Lee and Zella Lott Lee.

He married Rebecca Marie Martin August 24, 1957, and cherished her for 59 years until her death March 12, 2016.

Bill graduated from Picayune High School, where he played football, as well as Pearl River Junior College. He was a devoted family man who cherished his children and grandchildren.

He found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and was known for his engaging conversations with everyone he met.

Bill, a faithful follower of Christ, loved studying the Bible and taught Sunday School for most of his adult life. During his lifetime, Bill served in the United States Navy.

His dedication to his country was a testament to his character and sense of duty.

During his service in the Navy, he was a boxer with an undefeated record also winning a Golden Glove championship.

Bill lived in at least nine states in his life. He never found a place he could not call home, especially if there was a place to “wet a hook”.

Bill is survived by his children, John B. Lee, Katrina Jenkins (Michael), Francis (Monny) Mutchler-Lee (Kathryn), and Terry P. Lee (Angela); eight grandchildren; two great
grandchildren; and several foster grandchildren whom he loved like his own. He was, “Uncle Bill Pal” to numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister,
Sarah L. Sasnett; and brothers, F. Paul Lee and W. Carl Lee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca; his parents; his sister, Ruby Jane Brossette; and his eldest son, William P. Lee Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date to honor and remember the remarkable life of William Powell Lee Sr.
