MTV has confirmed that Nelly Furtado will headline this year’s Isle of MTV Malta, joining a stellar line-up with DJ Snake and RAYE for the event on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024.

Europe’s biggest free summer music festival has developed a reputation for legendary moments and star-building moments through the years, and fans encouraged to secure their tickets ASAP!

Nelly Furtado, the pop legend with over 20 billion global streams and more than 35 million album sales worldwide, is set to deliver an unforgettable performance with her return. Her illustrious career features three multi-platinum albums and multiple sold-out tours globally with tracks like ‘Promiscuous’, ‘Say It Right’, ‘Maneater’ and ‘I’m Like A Bird’, amongst many others.

Known for hits that have topped the Billboard Hot 100 and a Latin Grammy-winning Spanish-language album, Furtado continues to make significant marks in the music industry. Recently, she has collaborated with notable artists like Dom Dolla and reunited with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake for new music, promising an exciting set of classics and brand new bangers at the Floriana Granaries.

Maltese Folklore Photos Vying for Global Prize

Maltese photographers have made a significant mark in the international arena with their entries in the Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 competition. Among the outstanding submissions, Antonella Vella’s photograph of a young man covered in blue paint during the Żabbar fast has particularly captivated audiences.

This image, along with other vivid captures like traditional salt-farming by ‘Bellina 09’, and prickly-pear farming by ‘Kikku33’, represents Malta’s rich cultural tapestry in the running for a global prize.

A total of 412 images were submitted to Wiki Loves Folklore Malta 2024, showcasing the island’s vibrant traditions and folklore. Antonella Vella emerged as the overall winner, securing 200 euros worth of photographic equipment from PhotoCity in Valletta. All participants now aim for the top international prize of 374 euros.

These photos not only compete for accolades but also contribute to a global cultural heritage archive on Wikimedia Commons, making them accessible worldwide.
